In one of his trips to Spain in 2014, Miguel finds photographs and documents of his grandfather, who migrated to Switzerland in 1960 during the Francoist dictatorship. Shortly afterward, he begins delving into archives and visiting various locations as a means of interrogating himself in the present.

By standing in a constant back-and-forth that fuses different temporal spaces, the work foregrounds differing social conditions and raises critical questions concerning the reasons for displacement and the discursive distinctions between the terms migrant and expatriate, thereby reflecting on the power asymmetries embedded within migratory processes. The words journey or quest operate here as euphemisms for the more explicit and politically charged concept of migration. Personal narratives intersect and at times exchange roles, forming a metaphorical framework through which migration emerges as both a recurring historical condition and an embodied, lived experience.
